Top 5 Hunting Rifles to Check Out in 2022

April 30 //  by Davis

Hunting is a common sport that is not to be overtaken any time soon. To be a good hunter, you need a good rifle.

Here are several top-notch rifles that you need to check out. The best thing is that you can identify your best online gun store and make your order for both the rifle and the ammunition.

Table of Contents

  • Remington Model 700 SPS Varmint
  • Weatherby Vanguard
  • Ruger American Rifle
  • Winchester Model 70
  • Browning BAR
  • AR 10 Rifle
  • Conclusion

Remington Model 700 SPS Varmint

This is a rifle clearly designed for long-range shooting. Its weight guarantees stability and accuracy.

The 700 SPS Varmint has a 26-inch heavy profile carbon steel barrel tapering to .822 of an inch at the muzzle.

The barrel is factory threaded for a moderator and comes with a 1-in-12 twist rate in this caliber which pretty much ensures the job is well done.

Other key features include an improved, ergonomically designed synthetic stock, carbon steel barrels, and receivers drilled and tapped for scope mounts. The exterior metalwork of the rifle is a matte-blued finish.

Weatherby Vanguard

The Weatherby Vanguard rifles date back to the late 1960s. The company has had a series of action rifles most of which have been advancements of the former version.

Owing to their being very affordable coupled with the solid build quality, the Weatherby Vanguard has enjoyed a lot of success over the years because it is seen as an excellent budget choice that delivers.

It is popular for being one of the cheapest rifles in the UK.

The rifle has a twin lug design that provides a push-feed loading, a push-bottom ejector, and a long, M16-type extractor.

Ruger American Rifle

The Ruger American Rifle is a family of budget-level hunting/sporting rifles made by Sturm, Ruger & Co.

This rifle comes in 7 models available in countless configurations and calibers. One key feature most notable by the hunters is the Ruger Marksman Adjustable trigger.

Aluminum bedding, scope mounts from the factory, and dual cam bolts are some of the most appealing features of a Ruger rifle.

The bedding system uses two V-shaped steel action blocks that wedge the receiver firmly in place to prevent lateral shifts and also serve as recoil lugs.

The rifle has a two-stage trigger functionality which allows the user to adjust the weight of pull between 3–5 lb by means of a set screw on the trigger housing.

Winchester Model 70

This rifle was originally manufactured by the Winchester Repeating Arms Company between 1936 and 1980 after which the U.S. Repeating Arms under an agreement with Olin Corporation began its production in 2006.

The rifle’s trigger system is three-lever, a mechanism that allows for a zero take up, zero creep, and zero overtravel.

Browning BAR

This rifle is called Browning Automatic Rifle (BAR).

It was created by John Browning, who was already an established trailblazer in the gun community.

The rifle has a pistol grip, rate-reducer mechanism, and a skid-footed bi-pod fitted to the muzzle end of the barrel.

The BAR is outfitted with a heat shield and a shortened handguard.

One key factor of the BAR’s success is the .30-06 Springfield ammunition owing to which it has remained popular, especially among sporting shooters.

AR 10 Rifle

The AR-10 is a rifle that was developed in the late 1950s by Eugene Stoner.

This rifle is a viable choice for long-range shooting, sniper shooting, and hunting sports.

It is chambered to use the .308 Winchester rounds.

Key features of this rifle are lightweight construction, magazine-fed ammo, gas piston operated, semi-automatic, air-cooled hardware, chambered in .308, shoulder-fired and spring-loaded firing pin

Conclusion

Choosing the right rifle is a determinant of how successful you are at your hunting spot. Consider checking the specifications of the rifles mentioned above.
