#1, Fishing Equipment​

The first step in the fishing expedition as a beginner is to get familiar with your fishing equipment and the know-how to handle the equipment. It is important that you look upon your fishing gadgets and learn all the parts and functions of the fishing equipment. #2, Taking Proper Care of Your Equipment

It will only be right for you to keep your fishing equipment in good condition to ensure they will be in good working condition and use them for a long time. It would help if you washed the equipment after each use to ensure they will be in good working condition.

Taking care of your equipment also means using them for the right purpose only as they are very delicate materials. The fishing rods and the fishing line should not be used for any other purpose as they are very delicate and will wear out and tear if used for other purposes.

#3, Rigs and Rigging Your Equipment

As a beginner, the next step is to understand how to go about in the rigging of your equipment. The fishing rig will require that you tie the hook, leaders, baits, and lures along a fishing line and you can cast your line after you have completed this process.

Your knot should be strong enough to hold the weight of the catch as you hurled them up in the line.

There are three main common types of knot you can start with when learning how to tie a knot and they include Palomar knot, arbor knot, and improved clinch knot. With these simple knots, you can easily secure your hook properly to the line and secured enough to hurl your catch.

#5, Casting Your Line

As a beginner, you have to understand that there is more to throwing your line in the water to catch a fish, you have to learn how to cast properly. You can put the bait where it can get to the fish. With spinning tackle or spin casting, you can cast your line further and reach greater depth to catch bigger fish.

With the proper guidance, you can learn how to use spin casting and with the right kind of knot, draw big fish to the surface. When you are learning how to cast as a beginner, you should learn away from people in an open area as you throw your line to get the hang and feel of the casting. With enough practice, you will be able to cast farther and deep when you hit the waters.

#6, Safety Tips

When you go fishing, there are some tips you have to consider for your safety, and you should consider the following tips as a beginner:

  • As a beginner, you should always fish with a companion especially with someone that had much experience as you to help you get along with fishing.
  • You should always be careful in handling your equipment especially since they are sharp at the edges to ensure that you do not cause yourself any injuries.
  • You should not cast your line around people and ensure you look properly before you cast your line to prevent an accident.
  • You should return fish or catch to the water if you do not have the intention of eating them or if they are amongst any of the endangered species.
  • You should understand the laws guiding fishing in your location and ensure you adhere to these laws.
  • Whenever you catch a fish below the size recommended under the law, you should ensure to return it to the water.

There are many places you can go fishing and have a good time, but you should ensure to take care of the environment as well. It would help if you avoided leaving the plastic container, your hooks and lines, and other equipment that can affect the water bodies behind.
